Meet Chive, JKV’s Newest Restaurant Associate

John Knox Village dining services has a new team member!

Chive is a robot that is helping out at the dining room at The Meadows. It is helping associates clear tables as well as bringing orders from the kitchen to Stories Public House.

“We have been working through a staffing shortage for several months and trying to think outside the box for solutions. We decided to pursue having a robot serve as an ‘associate,’” said Todd Hollander, director of dining services. “This will not take away from any position but allow us to better utilize the staff we do have, to serve residents better as they dine.”

Hollander said a handful of other retirement communities have implemented the robot with positive results.
