JKV Residents Broaden Their Global View at the World Block Party
John Knox Village hosted a World Block Party to celebrate diversity on Saturday, Aug. 6 at The Pavilion. The event was planned to embrace and celebrate differences in cultures, countries, backgrounds and identities.
Residents and their families and friends enjoyed entertainment, fun activities and food from different cultures. Entertainment included the Kansas City Marching Cobras, a premiere high-energy drill team that moves to the beating of drums; Three Trails Taiko, a Kansas City-based group that performs a unique Japanese style of drumming; and O’Riada Manning Academy of Irish Dance, another local group that performs both traditional and modern Irish dance. Culinary offerings included Huli Huli chicken skewers (Polynesian), bratwurst (German), fish tacos with mango salsa (Mexican and South Pacific), hummus and naan bread (Middle Eastern), fried cauliflower and aioli sauce (French), Greek salad, whipped cream krumkake (Norwegian), and shortbread (Scottish).
Activities included face painting, crafts, games and prizes.
The family and friends annual event is just one of many fun events and activities offered to residents at John Knox Village.
