When care at home isn’t an option, Village House, located within the Village Care Center, provides contracted inpatient hospice care, including respite care. Respite care allows patients to be admitted when 24-hour care is necessary to relieve caregivers.
Wherever the patient is receiving hospice care, the patient and family are included in the care plan. Family and dear friends are relieved of caregiving and can focus on time together. Emotional, spiritual and practical support is given based on the patient’s wishes and family’s needs.
Village House is located within the Village Care Center at John Knox Village. It has a private entrance to the right of the main entrance on Pryor Road.

It’s a philosophy of care that focuses on comfort and quality of life for those facing a life-limiting illness. It’s a team-oriented approach to expert medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support tailored to the person and family’s needs and wishes. People who receive hospice care are no longer receiving curative treatment for their underlying disease.
Palliative care (pronounced pal-lee-uh-tiv) is specialized medical care that focuses on providing patients with relief from the symptoms, pain, and stress of a serious illness – whatever the diagnosis or prognosis. It can accompany other curative treatments. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.
The Village House offers a level of hospice care for patients who are in need of pain control and symptom management that cannot be provided in another setting. Respite care is also available for caregivers who need a break.
Family members of patients have access to Village House 24 hours a day.
Caring for your loved one is a joy and a privilege and we are delighted that we can offer our services of comfort and care at the end of life.
