OUTPATIENT THERAPY & HOME HEALTH CARE:

Our teams of dedicated professionals are trained to provide personalized care, tailored to the specific needs and goals of each individual. From physical therapy and exercise programs designed to improve mobility to emotional support and education, we’re here to guide and support you every step of the way on your Parkinson’s journey.   • Outpatient Therapy by John Knox Village provides one-on-one Parkinson’s therapy sessions with LSVT-certified physical, occupational and speech therapists at our full-service clinic in Lee’s Summit, Mo. We specialize in senior care and are open to the public. A convenient option for those in and around Eastern Jackson County, as well as Village residents.
  • VirtuSense Balance Assessments – Regular screenings assess your fall risk and help you better maintain your balance.
  • Homebound? Home Health by John Knox Village, also provides LSVT BIG and LSVT LOUD in your home. We offer care in 12 Missouri & Kansas counties.

Parkinson’s Connection: Exercise, Fitness, Wellness and Support


OPEN TO THE PUBLIC – LOCATED IN EASTERN JACKSON COUNTY

Parkinson’s Connection by John Knox Village: This wellness, fitness, education and support program uses a whole person approach to help with the unique challenges that individuals and families face when living with Parkinson’s disease. Located just off of I-470 on Pryor Road in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Parkinson’s Connection is an easy drive from most parts of Kansas City, and very accessible for those living east and south of the metro area. Your membership provides unlimited access to a wide variety of specialized exercise classes as well as social and educational activities and programs from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, including:

Short-Term Special Classes:
Movement with Music class, in conjunction with the Kansas City Ballet 
Shake, Rattle and Roll Singers – Led by a music therapist
Rock Steady Boxing            PWR!Moves®                    Tai Chi
Therapeutic Drumming    Dietary consultations    Four support groups

Parkinson’s Support Groups and Activities

  • Parkinson’s Support Group – This educational and supportive monthly meeting is open to the public. Led by the director of research for the University of Kansas Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Center. 10 a.m. Fourth Wednesday, Places Manhattan Room at John Knox Village
  • Parkinson’s Disease Peer Group – Where people who have Parkinson’s can come together to share common experiences, concerns and support. 2 p.m. Second Tuesday, Village Care Center Lobby Classroom
  • Parkinson’s Caregivers Support Group – Where family caregivers of those living with Parkinson’s disease can share their thoughts and experiences. 2 p.m. Second Tuesday, Village Care Center Family Room
  • Alzheimer’s and Dementia Caregiver Support Group – For caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s dementia, or other dementia. 2 p.m. Third Tuesday, Lakeside Missouri Room at John Knox Village
  • Mental Health Services – Our Resident Care Coordination Liaison can help connect you with mental health professionals based on your specific needs. 816-347-4556
  • John Knox Village Volunteer Program – Volunteering can help you build a sense of purpose and meaning, cope with stress, and stay active. (Accepting help is good for your heart, too.)
