Ravi Narayan, Safety Professional of the Year

Ravi Narayan, director of risk management, has been named Safety Professional of the Year by the local chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals.

Ravi is a long-time member of the Heart of America chapter. He has served on the society’s board for many years in different capacities, including president in 2017.

At John Knox Village, Ravi serves as director of risk management. He has been a Village associate since 2005.

The Safety Professional of the Year Award is awarded annually to an ASSP member who demonstrates outstanding achievement in the occupational safety and health (OSH) field while also advancing the OSH profession overall.

Carol Ann Hutchens, Lifetime Achievement Award

Carol Ann Hutchens, RN, Village Hospice, was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Missouri Hospice and Palliative Care Association. Carol, who has been a nurse for more than 40 years, has worked in a variety of settings with patients of all ages. She joined Village Hospice in 2011 and is described as an “energizer bunny who works twice as many hours as the rest of us.” Her patients and families also love working with her, and many times mention Carol by name in post-service surveys.

Another co-worker said, “I’ve never met a more fearless, yet humble nurse. Carol is the epitome of a patient advocate and will always do right by her patients. She is thoughtful, intelligent, kind, and compassionate. There just are not enough words to capture her essence.”

To help recognize Carol for her award, the Missouri Hospice and Palliative Care Association asked for Village Hospice to prepare a video about Carol and her achievements. The video can be viewed at https://youtu.be/X6cF_k1QuQ8
