JKV Foundation Launches Face Covering Campaign

The John Knox Village Foundation is overseeing a group of residents and community members who are volunteering their time to sew face coverings for the Village’s associates! So far, more than countless residents, associates and community volunteers have signed up to contribute their talents to assist our associates. We couldn’t be any more proud of their efforts to enrich lives and build community!

If you’d like to contribute face coverings to the campaign (the Foundation can provide the materials and directions you’ll need) or donate tightly woven, 100% cotton fabric, call 816-347-2382 or email mbesermin@jkv.org.

Help Save Ears!

Do you crochet or knit? Do you have cotton yarn and 3/4- to 1-inch buttons in your possession? Your handiwork could help protect associates’ ears from chafing when wearing a medical face mask or face covering for long periods of time!

The Foundation is continuing its campaign to help associates by collecting finished ear savers that will be distributed to our nurses and other associates.

The ear savers are worn on the back of the head. Instead of tucking the elastic of medical masks or face coverings behind the ears, individuals can wrap the elastic around the buttons on the ear savers. The end result: pressure is taken off ears, coverings become a bit more comfortable and the risk of damage to the ears and face can be reduced.

If you can help out, please contact Marsha Besermin of the JKV Foundation at 347-2382 or mbesermin@jkv.org. She will send you a pattern and a link to an instructional YouTube video. Thank you!
