JKV Gala: Party Like a Pirate a Huge Success

THANK YOU to all the sponsors, donors, guests, volunteers and staff who came together to make the 2017 John Knox Village Gala a huge success!

The evening of Saturday, June 10, 2017, more than 400 people came together to Party Like Pirates at the John Knox Village Gala celebration. Guests enjoyed a wide array of island-inspired beverages and foods prepared in the Village’s four on-campus restaurants, including Fireside Dining, Places, Courtyard Café and Lakeside Grille. Entertainment included a crew of Kansas City’s own Real Pirates who mingled with guests and judged the costume contest, as well as The Phin Addicts, a great live band with a definite beachy vibe. Finally, guests engaged in lively bidding wars for wonderful silent and live auction items that included sports memorabilia, concert tickets, handcrafted toys, vacations and more.

In its second year, the gala was hosted by John Knox Village and the John Knox Village Foundation to raise funds for the interior renovation of The Pavilion at John Knox Village, the iconic special events building that hosts events for John Knox Village and the surrounding community. The first phase of renovations, which included new paint, flooring, new bathrooms and renovations, were completed in late 2016.  The second phase will include installation of a state-of-the-art sound system and new tables and chairs. Between the sponsorships, the live and silent auctions, and the evening’s other festivities, the gala raised more than $200,000.

“Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the Gala — it really does take a village to make events like this happen,” said Gail Benne, president of the John Knox Village Foundation. Thank you to everyone who came out for the evening — our guests, volunteers, staff and vendors, as well as the individuals and organizations who gave money and donated items for the auctions. Your talents, generosity and thoughtfulness is awe-inspiring and much appreciated.”

What a fun evening! Check out the photos from the photo booth as well as pictures from the roving photographers.
