Emotional, Spiritual and Bereavement Support
Medical Oversight | Emotional, Spiritual and Berevement Support | Respite Care | Contact Us | Home

The hospice team focuses on each person’s unique needs, and tends to not only the medical care, but the well-being of the whole person, including emotional and spiritual needs. Our entire team – from our administrative staff to our nurses and chaplain – makes great efforts to form trusting relationships that are meaningful to you, your loved one and to outside caregivers, such as doctors.

Emotional and Spiritual Offerings

  • Social workers counsel patients and families and introduce them to a number of community resources to assist with emotional needs, funeral arrangements, financial concerns, legal matters and more.
  • Non-denominational chaplains are available to provide comfort and support as patients and families explore spiritual concerns.
  • Trained volunteers offer practical assistance as well as companionship and understanding.
  • Our music therapy program uses all aspects of music to help patients express their emotions. From singing spiritual hymns, to playing music that connects them to meaningful memories, our full-time therapist tailors therapy to meet each individual’s needs.
  • Pet therapy provides comfort in a way that words cannot.
  • Family members receive benefits, such as crisis management and emotional and spiritual support. Hospice provides grief support to bereaved family members for at least 13 months after the patient’s death.

Bereavement Support
We realize the period of grief after the death of a loved one is different for everyone. People find solace in different ways. To help you through the difficult period after losing your loved one, we offer spiritual, emotional and physical support through a specially tailored bereavement program. In addition to personal visits, phone calls and letters from our hospice staff, we offer a number of support groups that can help move you through this difficult time.
