At Village Hospice of John Knox Village, our goal is to enhance the quality of life of our patients and families by providing hospice care guided by the values of dignity, compassion and grace. We care for each of our patients as if they were our only patient, and their families as if they were a part of our own families. And we encourage each of them live each day to the fullest.
The care and support provided by Village Hospice of John Knox Village is available to John Knox Village residents and to residents of the Greater Kansas City Area.
A team of trained health care professionals provides specialized services with the guidance of the patient’s physician and the hospice medical director. Whether the patient lives at home, in a skilled nursing environment or another setting, hospice provides compassionate care in familiar surroundings.
Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance covers most services. Since hospice care is based on need, a patient is never turned away due to a lack of insurance or funding.
A patient may be admitted to hospice care when:
- The patient is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness
- The patient’s prognosis is limited to six months
- The patient refuses or is not eligible for aggressive care for the life-limiting illness
- The patient and family participate in the plan of care
