Our goal at Village Hospice is to enhance the quality of life of our patients and families by providing hospice care guided by the values of dignity, compassion and grace. We care for each of our patients as if they were our only patient, and their families as if they were a part of our own families. And we encourage every patient to live each day to the fullest.
Village Hospice is a not-for profit hospice. We provide care and support to not only residents at our Kansas City retirement community but serve patients in 10 counties throughout the greater Kansas City area. For a map of the area we serve, click here.
We are an open-access hospice and do not refuse admission based on the patient's treatment choice. Whether the patient lives at home, in a skilled nursing environment or another setting, hospice provides compassionate care in familiar surroundings.
Medicare, Medicaid or private insurance covers most services. Since hospice care is based on need, a patient is never turned away due to a lack of insurance or funding.
A patient may be admitted to hospice care when:
- The patient is diagnosed with a life-limiting illness
- The patient's prognosis is limited to six months
- The patient refuses or is not eligible for aggressive care for the life-limiting illness
- The patient and family participate in the plan of care
