Activities At The Children's Village, we provide a variety of daily activities that focus on the cognitive, fine motor, gross motor, social, emotional and creative needs of each child. A wide variety of activities carefully planned by each classroom teacher are available throughout the day to meet and enhance the developmental level of each child. Weekly lesson plans are posted in each classroom. Children are active participants in their environment and daily activities by making many choices of hands-on activities throughout their day. Classroom schedules and activities are loosely structured to allow independent functioning and choices. Intergenerational activities are an important aspect of the curriculum at The Children's Village. We believe that this interaction provides many positive benefits for both the children and the residents of John Knox Village. Intergenerational activities may include:
- Story time
- Classroom volunteers
- Gardening
- Art activities
- Visits to residents' rooms
- Any number of other activities
Additional John Knox Village resources are integrated
into our curriculum whenever possible. These may include:
- Swimming
- Bowling
- Gardening
- Using the computer lab
- Taking a walk on the grounds of John Knox Village
- Attending associate events
